Arnon Goldfinger

Arnon Goldfinger was born in Ramat Gan, Israel, to parents who immigrated from Germany and Czechoslovakia. As a youth he spent many hours sitting at the chess board, eventually becoming one of the most exceptional young chess players in Israel. He attended Tel Aviv University where he majored in cinema with a minor in philosophy. He completed his studies with honors and in 1987 was chosen as the outstanding student in the faculty of the arts and was granted the Rector’s Scholarship.

Arnon Goldfinger, winner of two Israeli Academy Awards for Best Documentary,
has been working as a film director, scriptwriter and producer since 1993. His first documentary feature film “The Komediant” had a theatrical release in Israel and the USA and received numerous awards including the Israeli Academy award and the Best Documentary award at The Haifa Film Festival. His recent documentary feature film “The Flat” won 15 film awards including the Israeli Academy Award and was one of the three finalists for the German Academy Film Award ("lola") 2013. "The Flat" had a theatrical release in Israel, USA, Germany, and Australia, took part in more than 80 film festivals around the globe, and was broadcast by numerous TV channels. Goldfinger has taught in the leading Israeli film schools including the "Sam Spiegel Film School” and the Film and Television Department at the Tel Aviv University where he teaches today.
